Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha participated in the ceremony marking the 35th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic Party branch in Kavaja, where he praised the historic role of this city in the overthrow of the dictatorship and the birth of political pluralism in Albania.
In his speech, Berisha expressed deep gratitude for the citizens of Kavaja, describing the city as a symbol of freedom and fundamental human and divine values.
While underlining that history was calling for the Kavajas for the second time to overthrow the next dictatorship, the chairman of the blue headquarters emphasized that the government remained in power along with its prime minister because they did not rise up in protests.
" Dear citizens of this blessed city, Kavaja and Kavaja wherever you are tonight, in Kavaja, in Albania and in the four corners of the earth. The most boundless gratitude, the greatest respect, to you, men and women, boys and girls, with a spirit and a relationship with freedom among the most perfect that a civilized man, a civilized man, can have, " Berisha said.
Berisha emphasized that Kavaja has been and remains a symbol of resistance and faith in the fundamental values of Albanian society.
" The Kavaja is the symbol of free people, of people who believe in the highest values, divine and human, in freedom, God, family, Albania ," he said.
Referring to the history of the Democratic Party in this city, he recalled that the DP branch in Kavaja was officially founded in December 1990, but emphasized that the city's role in the birth of pluralism had begun earlier.
“ We gather today on the 35th anniversary of the founding of the Kavajë branch of the Democratic Party. In fact, the Kavajë branch of the Democratic Party was formally founded on December 17, 1990, late at night, at dawn on the 18th .”
According to Berisha, it was precisely the sacrifice and courage of the citizens of Kavaja and the anti-communist groups that served as inspiration for the student movement and democratic changes in the country.
" But the truth is that it was Kavaja, it was the sacrifice, the manliness, the bravery of the citizens of Kavaja and its anti-communist groups that laid the foundations of pluralism, that became the inspiration for the student movement. "
In conclusion, Berisha emphasized that the founding of the Democratic Party is closely linked to both the student movement and the historical contribution of Kavaja.
"So, in this context, we can say that the Democratic Party of Albania was founded in the student city, just as much as it was founded in the city of Kavaja," Berisha concluded.
