Greek Minister Makis Voridis has commented on the "Beleri" case. He said that he has strong doubts about the claims of the Albanian side when it declares that it does not interfere with the justice of the country.
According to him, the Albanian state claims that it does not interfere in the justice of the country and this raises doubts, since Beleri should have been allowed to take the oath as mayor.
The Greek minister added that Albania is a totalitarian state, which in other circumstances would have been completely isolated from the West, however he said that he himself was in favor of a softer approach to the situation.
"When we have such states, what do we do with them? Do we let them go or stop them?", he said.
Voridis also commented on his participation in the parliamentary assembly of the Organization for Security and Stability in Europe.
"I was for a soft approach. I thought that if we were completely apolitical, these countries would be completely isolated and eventually the West would have no influence on the development of their institutions and democracies. So I wanted to be in a negotiation for a while," the Greek minister added.
He emphasized that many countries still have totalitarian regimes and many peoples suffer from this situation.
