Candidate Arif Rexhmati has commented on the Reestablishment primaries for the elections in Kukës that the winner is Emri Vata.
Although Rexhmati had the chance to be the 'bridge of unification' of the democrats in Kukës, he withdrew two days before the primaries claiming that the process was one-sided and not unified. He says that Emri Vata's victory says a lot about the primary process.
"Emri Vata does not live in Kukës and the fact that he won precisely as a one-sided candidate shows that I was right in withdrawing a few days ago from a one-sided and non-unified process," said Rexhmati.
Meanwhile, in today's Primaries race, Vata won against 4 other candidates and competed under the Berisha-Meta coalition logo for Kukes Municipality against Albert Halilaj proposed by the Socialists, but also against the Democratic Party candidate.
DP has not yet come up with a candidate for the Kukës municipality, while the possibilities for the unification of the democrats in this race in the face of the majority are almost zero.
This decision of the leaders of Berisha and Basha has brought dissatisfaction to the democrats of Kukes who were looking for unification, but in return they received the words of division again. Due to this climate with two camps, even Admir Sinamati gave up the elections for the Kukës Municipality.
After the arrest of Safet Gjic, on September 24, Kukësi will elect the city administrator again. The Socialist Party will appear in front of the Kuksians with Albert Halilajn to seek to repeat the success of May 14, while the political forces have until September 1 to register at the CEC as electoral subjects. The names of the candidates must be submitted no later than September 8.
