The name that was rumored as the unifier of the two parts of the DP, Arif Rexhmati of Lulzim Basha, has been removed from the primaries.
The Democrats of Kukës are today choosing between 5 names for who will be in the battle for the vacant mayor's seat. The candidates are Ardian Elezi, Emri Vata, Gëzim Shehu, Uran Cengu, Ylber Zeneli.
Sali Berisha reacted with enthusiasm, several times during this Sunday, distributing to his followers on social networks, videos of democrats who wanted to vote in his primaries.
"Massive participation in the primaries in Kukës! Invitation to all the democrats of Kukës to participate", wrote Berisha at the beginning of the process.
About 2,200 Democratic members have been officially called to vote. Are there also supporters of Lulzim Basha?
Berisha himself had doubts about who Arif Rexhmti was, who is the head of the official PD branch in Kukës.
However, he raised hopes in the ranks of the democrats, that finally the two parts of the PD had come together and the one chosen by the primaries would be Rexhamti, a hope that he saw himself, immediately after the officialization of his name in primaries, saying that he was still waiting for a different decision, that with the words of consensus, a candidate would be chosen and the Primaries would not take place.
But this doubt no longer exists and it is only Lulzim Basha who is expected to speak, if he will put his local leader in the race or if this will be an opportunity that he will surpass, in an area where Berisha is stronger in the electorate of the opposition. And also it will not be remembered on May 14, or 6 6 before, where the PD that took it back, emerges as the third force; for the third time.
After the arrest of Safet Gjic, on September 24, Kukësi will elect the mayor again. The Socialist Party will appear before the Kuksians with Albert Halilajn to seek to repeat the success of May 14, while the political forces have until September 1 to register at the CEC as electoral subjects.
The names of the candidates must be submitted no later than September 8.
