Since January, pensioners have started to benefit from the pension increase foreseen by the government.
Prime Minister Edi Rama, on the podcast "Flasim", explained the financial support scheme for pensioners. He stated that the increase has come into effect from January 2026 and that the scheme foresees progressive increases every year.
According to Rama, the January increase will double every year. In the following January, pensioners will benefit from double the current increase, then triple, quadruple and quintuple it. The scheme foresees that this progression will stop in 2030.
"Just as we pledged in the 83-mandate campaign and as we raised 83 green cards in the Assembly in favor of the gradual increase in pensions during this historic mandate, we have already started the turnaround. According to the relevant categories, pensioners as of this January will benefit from an increase, which will double every January. So next January they will receive double the increase of this January. The January after that, triple the increase of this January, then quadruple the increase of this January and in Albania 2030 this progression will stop at the fivefold increase of the welcome increase of January of this year", said Rama.
