Today, the Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, will be at the Berlin Process Summit in Tirana.
Protothema writes that Prime Minister Mitsotakis is coming from Berlin to Tirana, with the message that Greece will not make exceptions to the rules of the rule of law and this concerns all candidate countries for membership.
According to Greek government sources, the accession process is a long and arduous process and a difficult path for the candidate countries, but their progress and their adaptation to the European acquis, their own performances, that is, will judge the course so that they can claim their membership in the European family.
The Prime Minister, according to information, is expected to repeat that the refusal of the Albanian authorities to allow the elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri, to take the oath contrary to the presumption of innocence and the rejection of his request constitutes a deviation from European rules.
"The prime minister made it clear that the Beler case will have consequences in Greek-Albanian relations and will influence Greece's decisions regarding Albania's membership process," said the same sources, Protothema quotes.
The Berlin Process
The Berlin process is taking place in response to the European Commission's progress reports on the progress of the candidate countries and the debate on EU enlargement, which began at the informal meeting of the European Council in Granada and is expected to culminate in the European Council in December.
The countries of the Western Balkans, nine EU countries (Austria, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Croatia, Poland, Slovenia) and the United Kingdom participate in the Berlin Process.
The summit will focus on the issues of economic convergence of the Western Balkans with the EU and their integration into the single market, good neighborly relations and bilateral issues, as well as supporting the green and digital transition in the Western Balkans.
