At the conference with the leaders of the 5 NATO member states, Prime Minister Edi Rama also spoke about the establishment of the military base of the Euro-Atlantic alliance in Porto Romano.
He stated that the request for Albania to co-finance this NATO naval base should be processed as soon as possible.
"I would also like to emphasize the request that Albania's application to co-finance with NATO the new NATO naval base in Porto Romano be processed as soon as possible because we strongly believe that everything that happens step by step reinforces the strategic value of such an investment, not just for Albania, nor for our entire region, but for NATO itself, which will gain quick access to this side of Europe for any occasion and with the goals of common defense.
Thank you for this opportunity, while Albania has met with the 2024 budget the 2% defense financing objective, as it has been put on the table by NATO for all member countries. We are very engaged and very dedicated to strengthen our capacities, to increase the efficiency of our Armed Forces and remain at the front of NATO as a responsible and steadfast member in all our common challenges", declared Rama from Skopje.
