Volodymir Zelensky and Minister Igli Hasani

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, arrived in Tirana on Tuesday evening.

Zelensky was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Albania, Igli Hasani, at the airport of Rinas together with Minister Spiropali.

Zelensky, whose country has been at war with Russia for two years, is visiting Albania for the first time, as part of a summit on Ukraine.

From the battlefield in Ukraine to Albanian soil, Zelenski arrives in Tirana.
He has posted the first message from Albania where he writes:

"I am glad that I met with the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania IgliHasani!

We will discuss the issue of Crimea, #Kosovo and support for Ukraine. #Albania is a rich country, so I hope for its financial participation in strengthening democracy and freedom!"

Today, the Ukraine-Southeastern Europe summit will be held in Tirana, as a meeting between Prime Minister Edi Rama and the President of Ukraine is initially planned.

Then they will go to the Congress Palace from where on this red carpet they will arrive at the Summit organized by the Albanian Government, 13 leaders of 13 countries from Southeast Europe.

The first part of the summit will be open from this hall to continue with closed doors and then the conclusions will be given in a press conference.

Albania organizes this Summit in the wake of bold and unified positions in the UN Security Council with the United States of America.

The summit comes as another support for Ukraine and in denouncing the illegal Russian aggression and the crimes it has brought.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, whose country has been involved in pro-Russian rallies, has also been invited to participate. The possible participation of Vucic will not be welcomed by Moscow, to which Serbia has refused to impose sanctions as requested by the EU.

Kosovo will be represented by the president Vjosa Osmani. This Summit is seen as a good opportunity for the intensification of efforts in the recognition of Kosovo as a state by Ukraine. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will join the summit via a video message from Ankara.
