Activist Evi Kokalari, who has openly spoken out against the leader of the Democratic Party and has announced her candidacy, recounted a conversation with Sali Berisha and his son.
Kokalari writes that Sali Berisha has exploited her presence during the 2021 "Speeches" and this is why she and the current leader of the Democrat Party should be in the running in the May 23 elections.
The activist says that during the conversation with Berisha and Shkëlzeni, she asked him to step down from the leadership of the DP and that she will make his departure possible.
"If you don't understand that 'IT'S OVER', then with grace or without grace I will make it clear to you. But it is unfortunate that you want to make such a vulgar exit and close your cycle in such a shameful way. At least a thread of dignity must be preserved, because when a person dies, only his name remains. And the story you are writing will be remembered as one of the most evil episodes of Albanian politics," she emphasizes in her post.
Kokalari: For those who say "what contribution do you have to the DP", understand that today's DP, led by Sali Berisha and Shkëlzen Berisha, is a direct derivative of the Reestablishment and not of the 1991 DP.
If this were the DP of 1991, the base would have fully joined Berisha's leadership, and this did not happen. Neither after receiving the seal, nor after Basha's departure. In fact, the current base of the DP is that of the pulpits, but much more reduced.
If Berisha needs a reminder: the support of the rostrums came simply because my presence gave the Democrats another hope. Berisha exploited this by repeatedly promising changes, opening up the party, meritocracy and primaries. None of these promises were kept. When I took a public stand, the base of the rostrum was broken. Many left, while the others who are still there are without any motivation or hope for victory.
At this point, Rithemelim's support for me is much greater than that for Berisha, even though they continue to be afraid to speak publicly. But Rithemelim's support is not the only one I have. I also have support from those who fled with Basha and Alibeaj. So, in short, neither Berisha nor anyone else can gather the support in this party that I have.
But add to this those who have left over the last 35 years. They are exactly the ones I want to see return, because without them we cannot win.
Democrats are not stupid. Those who judged me when I sided with Berisha, today support me because they saw that my turnaround was complete within 9 months. That's how long it took me to clearly understand what was happening in that party. But those of Rithemelim and who were part of the podiums have not forgotten the fight I waged to preserve their vote and meritocracy in that party.
My struggle since the April 2022 Assembly and throughout the four subsequent races (National Council, races for the Presidency, FRPD race and primaries for the Municipality of Tirana) has sealed my track record. I am not at all like Berisha, the man of unfulfilled promises. I am the opposite: I promise little and deliver a lot.
At the end of 2022 (November-December) after the fiasco of the municipal primaries where Alihmemeti sold out to Berisha, killing meritocracy and giving victory to a vote-fraudster, I returned to Albania, sat down with Sali Berisha and Shkëlzen Berisha and told them that I had already understood clearly: they would not do what they had promised. Therefore, I would enter myself to change the DP from within. Berisha welcomed the proposal, especially when I told him that I would go out on the campaign trail with the municipal candidates. But he refused to make me part of the Presidency. I made it clear to him: without entering the Presidency, I do not accept taking orders from Vokshi or Këlliçi.
Berisha’s response was: “I don’t convene the Assembly to vote for a person again.” However, the following year he convened the Assembly to spotlight Argita Malltezi, who had it in her head that she would become the leader of the DP, as if the party’s deed had been registered in the state archives or local mortgages. Even then, I made it clear that I would enter the race and could not wait to debate Malltezi. Apparently, she got scared and dropped out.
In 2024, after Trump's victory, I sent a very clear message to Berisha to get out of the game. If he had done so, the chances were over 90% that I would have taken over from Edi Rama.
So, Rama's fourth term is a gift from Berisha!!
In May 2025, after the loss, I told him to leave the game again.
On August 6, 2025, I sent a message to both Berisha and Shkelzeni, telling them again that I was not leaving the DP and that their attempts to stop me would not work.
On August 15, I was sued by a crazy woman who has neither a career nor dignity to compare with me. The lawsuit was filed in New York with the sole purpose of adding to my financial burden so that I would not have to deal with them. The lawsuit is full of slander that came directly from Çim Peka's office, and he will personally pay for it one day.
So, this chronology clearly shows that I never left the DP. In fact, knowing that this was being done from the outside, with the help of foreigners, that's where I decided to focus.
Over the last two years I set myself two main goals in the US:
- Grenell was not going to become Secretary of State and that's how it happened.
- Prohibition of lifting sanctions against Berisha, because otherwise he would continue to hold the DP hostage.

PD-ja merret me ndihmë nga SHBA-të dhe riformohet nga njerëz me integritet, pa interesa personale mbi partinë, por me misione që do t’i çojnë deri në fund.
Pra, ndryshe nga çfarë thotë sekretari i PD-së se unë s’jam bërë anëtare, përveçse themeluese e PD-së aktuale, në nëntor 2022 i thashë si Sali Berishës ashtu edhe Shkëlzen Berishës të më fusnin në Kryesi. Atëherë Shkëlzeni donte, Berisha jo. Por sot shoh monstrat e grupit të Bashës pa pikë turpi të ulen në Kryesi, si Gaz Bardhi dhe Gjekmarkaj.
Kur u bë Kuvendi për t’i futur ata në Kryesi (sepse nuk e mbaj mend), dhe nëse ata janë bërë pjesë e Kryesisë pa asnjë votim real, atëherë Shkëlzen Berisha urgjentisht të fusë emrin tim në Kryesi.

PD-ja e sotme është derivat i Rithemelimit dhe ka dy themelues kryesorë:
Sali Berishën dhe Evi Kokalarin.
Dhe beteja e ardhshme na takon vetëm ne të dyve, sepse në krijimin e Rithemelimit, Sali Berisha kontrollonte strukturat, por nuk kishte mbështetje.
Evi Kokalari kishte mbështetje, por jo strukturat.
Sot mbështetjen vazhdoj ta kem unë, duke shtuar edhe atë të grupit Basha/Alibeaj. Strukturat do t’i ndërtojmë edhe pa qenë aty Noka e ata që merren me to. Madje, pa “Nokrat” e “Voksherat”, strukturat do të jenë shumë më të forta.
Berisha momentalisht ka vetëm vulën. Dhe ajo vulë duhet t’i bashkohet atij që ka mbështetjen, sepse vula pa mbështetje nuk të çon në fitore, por në humbje super të thella, si ajo që Berisha pësoi në maj 2025.
Prandaj, kjo garë për kryetar duhet të jetë vetëm mes dy themeluesve të Rithemelimit: Sali Berishës dhe Evi Kokalarit.
Kjo është një betejë e brendshme dhe as babalet, as zhurmuesit e tjerë nuk mund të jenë pjesë e një beteje të këtij kalibri.
Ndërkohë, Shkëlzen Berisha të kuptojë që jo vetëm nuk mund të më skualifikojnë, por kualifikimi duhet të bëhet menjëherë. Listat e votuesve nuk do të lihen në dorë të Gaz Bardhit, të cilin personalisht nuk e njoh në asnjë rol që mund t’i keni dhënë dhe duhet të distancohet totalisht nga kjo garë në çdo kapacitet.
E dyta: jo vetëm që do të më lini kohë të mjaftueshme për listat, por edhe për garën vetë. Berisha duhet të ketë disa debate publike me mua, ku të ballafaqohen të gjitha çështjet që kanë të bëjnë me Partinë Demokratike. Nëpërmjet debateve duket qartë diferenca midis kandidatëve.
Oh, dhe votimet: çdo votë do të ruhet nga vëzhguesit që do të sjell unë personalisht dhe që janë anëtarë të PD-së.

My lawyer expects a response, not only approval of the candidacy, but a detailed discussion on the lists, their monitoring, the race itself, and every other detail related to the race for the next mayor.
