The deputy of the Democratic Party, Jorida Tabaku, has denounced the increase in the prices of the consumer basket, which, according to her, have increased by 60% compared to 12 years ago.
She emphasizes that this increase has not been accompanied by an increase in income and pensions, making the economic burden unaffordable for citizens.
Tabaku said that three main factors of this growth: high taxes, lack of competition due to monopolies and corruption that has captured every link of the market.
"In 2024, price increases affected every product, from bread to basket products. Even in 2025, the situation continues to be the same because no solution has been offered. Prices have increased by 60%, while pensions and incomes have remained unchanged," said Tabaku.
Tabaku expresses the belief that 2025 will not only be the year of price increases, but also the year of hope and solution for all these problems, since on May 11, Albanians will elect PD.
"2024 is the year of price increases, from bread, to food, to basket products, all have increased. 2025 continues to be the year of rising prices because no solution has been given. 30% of the population, 800 thousand pensioners, have had a 60% increase in prices. This increase comes for several reasons: taxes and the unfair system that penalizes honest work, but at the same time penalizes products that come to the tables of Albanians at normal prices.
Lack of competition and capturing every space in the market from the distribution chain to retail, to the point of sale to consumers and thirdly, disposable incomes that have been declining. These three elements have impoverished Albanian citizens. Who is the solution? Of course, the change of an economic model, the change of a model which today has been exhausted, can no longer provide anything, it does not provide a solution, and I do not expect a solution from what they did not provide in 12 years. I really hope that the Albanian economy will have other sources of growth, that there will be other opportunities for open competition, for a fair tax system, and at the end of the day everything is solved by the economy. For this reason, 2025 is indeed the year of price increases, but it is also the year of solving all your problems", writes Tabaku on social networks.
