The opposition has abandoned the plenary session after the Speaker of the Assembly, Niko Peleshi, expelled Democratic Party MP, Luciano Boçi.
Belind Këlliçi warned that he would leave the hall if Boçi was not given the floor to respond. He described the situation as unacceptable and demanded the restoration of normality in the session, emphasizing that the opposition would act in solidarity with the expelled MP.
On the other hand, Peleshi argued that the disciplinary measure came after a violation of the rules of procedure. According to him, Boçi did not ask for the floor for a point of order, but took the podium and used language inappropriate for parliamentary standards. He explained that the decision was not made in a hurry and called on the deputies to continue the discussions without interruption.
After this exchange, the opposition left the hall, interrupting their participation in the rest of the session.
Këlliçi: We will leave in solidarity if MP Boçi does not speak. It is unthinkable. If you do not find a way to restore normality, to give him the right to reply, we have decided to leave in solidarity.
Peleshi: Mr. Këlliçi, we have been discussing here for 10 hours. The floor was taken in the first two hours for procedure. It was spoken, all topics were addressed. Believe me, Mr. Boçi did not ask for the floor to reply, he took the podium and did not say that it was for reply, he started with his own unparliamentary and incorrect language, that is why the measure was taken. The measure was not given in the heat of the moment. Do not sympathize with the violation of the rules, but let's continue the session.
