The last parliamentary session for this year produced strong physical clashes between the majority and the opposition, to the point of requiring the intervention of the Republican Guard.
Several opposition MPs, such as Flamur Noka, Klevis Balliu, Belind Këlliçi and others, are sitting in the ministers' seats, while others have blocked the podium.
Amid rising tensions, DP MP Elda Hoti hit the Speaker of Parliament, Niko Peleshi, with a water bottle.
Before her, MP Belind Këlliçi lit a torch in the hall.
After this episode, an unusual oath by the Ombudsman was seen in the Assembly hall.
With shouts of "Get out," noise, and clashes with the Guard, Parliament Speaker Niko Peleshi read Endrit Shabani's oath. The latter, on his way out, gave a kiss to the opposition members who gave him their signatures and then withdrew.
Furthermore, MP Klevis Balliu was excluded from the plenary session.
The Albanian Parliament will hold the last plenary session for this parliamentary session today.
One of the most discussed points is related to the institution of the Ombudsman.
Endrit Shabani, who was selected for this position with the signatures of the Democratic Party, but was approved in the session only with the votes of the Socialist Party, just took the official oath in the Assembly.
The opposition has opposed this process, considering it contestable, and has filed a lawsuit with the Constitutional Court, which is expected to be reflected in today's parliamentary debates.
