Trump Sells Ukraine to Putin in Alaska: The Summit That Legitimizes the Russian

Alaska Summit: Dialogue for peace, but without Ukraine at the table and with Putin gaining diplomatic ground...

In Anchorage, Alaska, amid American fighter jets and a red carpet laid out at a military base, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin shook hands as if they were two equal partners, not a war aggressor and a US president.

This image, covered in rhetoric about "possible peace," is in fact the first snapshot of a dangerous reality: Russia is no longer isolated, while Ukraine risks being sold at the big bargaining table.

Trump, surrounded by a team where businessmen had more weight than diplomats, started the summit with the cynical declaration that he would leave "if there was no real progress."

In political translation, this means that the bargain is on the table, and if Putin offers something salable to American opinion, then the agreement will be dressed up with the word "peace."

But this peace will not include Ukraine, because Kiev is left out, excluded from talks about its own fate. Faced with this historical irony, President Zelensky is clear: there are no territorial concessions and no peace on the corpses of Ukrainian sovereignty.

On the other hand, for Putin, this scene is a gift. Sitting face to face with the US president at an American base while your tanks continue to pound Ukrainian cities is a propaganda triumph.

It is proof that Moscow managed to turn back the clock: from total isolation in 2022, to the restoration of international legitimacy three years later.

Europe is alarmed. Chancellors and presidents are watching with horror the possibility that Trump will declare a “temporary” ceasefire that essentially freezes the war and gives Putin what he has wanted from the beginning: control over occupied territories and a permanent seat at the global table.

This would be the worst example of post-war history: the aggressor is rewarded, the victim is forgotten.

For Albania and the region, this summit should be read as a clear alarm.

If a superpower like Ukraine can be thrown off the table where its future is negotiated, what guarantees does a small state in the Balkans have when big interests collide?

Alliances are useful, but history shows that in the game of great powers there are no permanent friendships, only permanent interests.

The Alaska summit may have come without a formal agreement, but its truth is simple: Trump gave Putin the parity he sought, while Ukraine was left out. And that is the biggest bargain a nation can make in the midst of an existential struggle./ Pamphlet
