Endrit Shabani spoke after being elected as the People's Advocate. He commented on the stance of the Democratic Party, which denied its affiliation with him and apologized for providing signatures.
Shabani stated that he has collaborated with opposition parties in the Municipal Council and has been their partner in several battles.
" I am not a terrorist that you should be afraid to associate with me. I was on a front with them in the last local elections to support Florjan Binaj for the Tirana municipality. I collaborated with the opposition parties in the Municipal Council and I was their partner in several battles. I did not attack many names, but I said some truths to Berisha and some others. It was not my intention to attack anyone, but I denounced violations and abuses that have also brought punishments for people who have broken the law and abused power," said Shabani.
He also focused on the signatures of opposition MPs, saying that they have signed more than one candidate.
"Do you think 35 opposition MPs didn't see whose name they were signing? There may have been internal dynamics that happened and I don't know about them. Adriana Kalaja was a candidate as well, maybe they had her as a preference. They signed more than one candidate. I am grateful to them for providing the signatures for my choice and allowing the MPs to sign for me," Shabani added.
Shabani added that he has personally met most of them and stressed that his candidacy has had broad support.
"I drank about 30-40 coffees with all those who signed. Klevis Balliu signed together with two other MPs, Xhelal Mziu and Ina Zhupa. I met Mziu in a coffee shop and thanked him; he told me to support him. No one signed without knowing," Shabani told "News 24".
