DP MPs, members of the Mandates and Immunity Council, have sent an official letter to the chairman of this Council, Niko Peleshi, requesting that a meeting of the council be convened to review SPAK's request to lift Belinda Balluku's immunity.
According to them, the meeting should take place on Friday, December 26, at 11:00.
This is the second request addressed to the Speaker of the Assembly by DP deputies, where, referring to legal rights, the Council meets at the request of 1/2 of the members.
The request states that 1 week is a sufficient period of time for all members to familiarize themselves with the evidence made available by SPAK, where we are talking about a 10,000-page file.
Yesterday, the 5 Democratic MPs wrote to the Meeting referring to the first request filed where they had requested to continue reviewing the SPAK request.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Edi Rama made it clear a few days ago that the Council will not meet until the Constitutional Court gives its final ruling on January 22 on Balluk's suspension from government duties.
The meeting of the Immunity and Mandates Council was held on December 19, with the participation of 10 MPs (5 from the DP and 5 from the SP) and in the presence of 3 special prosecutors, the new head of SPAK Klodian Braho and the two prosecutors of the case, Dritan Prençi and Dorina Bejko.
The discussions revolved around the USB with over 10 thousand pages of evidence against Balluk submitted by SPAK where the filed request is argued. This USB was distributed to all members, while the parties did not agree on setting a fixed date for the next meeting after familiarization with the concrete evidence. The DP members requested that the meeting be held within 5 days of next week, while after a 20-minute break, the head of the Mandates Council, Niko Peleshi, did not give a date for the next session.
