The Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Agron Gjekmarkaj, has reacted with a message of condolence following the passing of Fatos Nano. The former Prime Minister lost his battle with the disease yesterday, October 31, after 24 days in intensive care.
Gjekmarkaj states that Fatos Nano will be remembered as a fundamental figure in the country's political transition and in Albanian parliamentary life.
"Anti-conformist surprise, acceptance of the opponent as such and not as an enemy, a vocabulary full of nuances to the point of self-irony, the ability to make agreements and allow rotation, the will to reform, remain guiding values for Albanian politics," the democrat says.
Gjekmarkaj also expressed his condolences to his family, relatives and friends.
"It is with sadness that we announce the news of the passing of the former Prime Minister and former Chairman of the Socialist Party, Mr. Fatos Nano.
On my personal behalf and as Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Albania, I express my most sincere condolences to his family, relatives and friends.
Mr. Nano will be remembered as a fundamental figure in the country's political transition and in Albanian parliamentary life.
"The anti-conformist surprise, the acceptance of the opponent as such and not as an enemy, the vocabulary full of nuances to the point of self-irony, the ability to make agreements and allow rotation, the reformist will, remain guiding values for Albanian politics! May he rest in peace and forever ," he wrote on social networks.
