Prime Minister Edi Rama delivered a speech at the farewell ceremony for former Prime Minister and historic leader of the Socialists, Fatos Nano.
After the message conveyed by Xhoana Nano and Sokol Nano, the wife and son of the former Prime Minister, Edi Rama delivered a speech at the ceremony, remembering Fatos as a friend, leader and as a man who left an indelible mark on the country's political history.
"They say one word, I die without you. How I wish, dear Fatos, that we could sit tonight at one of those rare dinners of ours in recent years, full of the taste of the purified air between us, and go through until late in that journal of our events everything that was said and written about you since the news came out that this time you are gone forever."
How much they loved and admired you, even those who never left you without putting a stick in your wheel and never without throwing stones at you. They couldn't wait to show you their love as soon as they found out that you would never open your eyes again.
And those who took you to prison, accusing you of being a thief, and came to kill you in the office, cursing you as a murderer, and who for years threw all the blackness of the Albanian language at your face, just look at how beautifully they have embroidered the words of their admiration.
"I'm sorry we can't be here tonight for a dinner that he wouldn't have paid for," Rama said.
