Analysis of the loss postponed to May 11, the National Council's focus is only on the December 22 protests...
The meeting of the National Council of the Democratic Party was accompanied by tensions and internal clashes. The member of the Presidency of the Democratic Party, Dritan Burgia, demonstratively left the hall, in protest against the ban on discussions outside the protest agenda.
Sources from inside the meeting indicate that in this high-level party forum, it was decided not to allow any discussion that is not related to the protest planned for December 22. This decision has caused the immediate reaction of Burgia, who expressed: " We come to speak in forums, you say we are not allowed to talk about anything except the protest ," he said.
Burgia is one of the figures who has been active in the reorganization of the DP at the grassroots level, and was among the organizers of the first meeting held by Ervin Salianji in Durrës, a move that aims to give new energy to the local party structures. It is precisely this commitment of his that has been viewed with suspicion by other leaders, who have previously attacked him at the Presidency meeting, accusing him of collaborating with the SP.
The head of the National Council, Edi Paloka, has repeatedly asked members to focus on the protest and not talk outside of it. Meanwhile, in his speech, Secretary General Flamur Noka said that the groups for organizing the protest have been divided. He also addressed the Democrats, saying that everyone's contribution is under 'examination'.
" Groups have been divided for the organization of the December 22 protest. We will monitor everyone's contribution ," Noka said.
In the part open to the media, Berisha asked the members of the National Council to focus on the December 22 protest, the first national protest since the defeat in the May 11 elections. He stated that due to developments, today's meeting will not focus on the defeat on May 11, but on organizing the protest.
But in parallel, a group of 17 members have submitted a proposal, through which the National Council is requested that characters linked to Soros or who have benefited from Rama Government tenders, directly or indirectly, cannot be part of this party and its leadership forums.
Even at the National Council meeting, the establishment of an Investigative Commission was proposed, regarding the manner in which signatures were collected in support of Endri Shabani as Ombudsman.

Sali Berisha: We will focus the discussions only on this topic. Every member is invited to express suggestions, opinions, criticisms, remaining a party of free speech. Today we will focus on organizing the protest. This protest is just the beginning.
Edi Paloka: Initiative by 17 members of the National Council. I propose, since today's topic is protest, that a working group be established in the meantime and discussed at the first meeting.
Lisander Hoxha: We believe that Soros is a cancer for democracy, not only for Albania, the USA, etc. It is unacceptable to have people among us associated with this organization.
Aulon Kalaja: I agree with Lisandri. Soros should be declared "non grata" by the next Government. I think that the DP should go further to the right, we should be conservative, not say that we are a center-right party. The People's Advocate has been elected, a Sorosist with the signatures of the DP. An Investigative Commission should be established on the way the signatures for Shabani were obtained.
