Gazment Bardhi has again criticized the process for the new DP chairman. Today the Presidency approved the candidacies for July 29, but Bardhi said in "Top Story" that this process is not legitimate.
Even according to Bardhi, the opening of the race for the president will deepen the impasse in the Democratic Party.
"I have not kept my position a secret, the mess in DP is destructive for the opposition. DP must get out of this conflict. Together we fought battles with Berisha. I don't have the ability to convince someone else to have the same opinion as us, some have had different opinions than us. I have never had a personal relationship with Berisha, but I think that with him at the head of the Democratic Party, we could not win the elections. I can be responsible and set my goals. I have no opponent, Berisha, I have Edi Rama. I have asked Basha and all colleagues to sit at a table and discuss who is the best for DP. If I believe something, I do it. I don't think the way this process is being built is correct. It is wrong and illegitimate and puts him in a bind. The battle I fought is for the new president to have the legitimacy to get the PD out of this impasse. For me, as Gazment Bardhi, there are no elections on July 29 in the PD. I don't get into the discussion of whether or not I recognize Basha as chairman. What I think is that as long as there is no legitimate decision of the National Council I consider that there is no election on July 29", said Bardhi.
