Naim Rashiti, director of the Balkan Policy Group in Pristina, stated that going to early elections should be the last solution to the political impasse in Kosovo.
To resolve this dispute that has caused a long political stalemate, he has proposed 10 options through which political parties can reach an agreement.
The first option, according to him, is for Vetëvendosje to propose three candidates for Speaker of the Assembly and for the deputies to vote for one of them.
As a second option, Rashiti has presented the possibility of a group of MPs sending questions to the Constitutional Court. The third option is for Vetëvendosje to make a political agreement.
While the fourth option, according to Rashit, is for the opposition to have its chance to form a government if Vetëvendosje does not have the votes.
The fifth option, Rashiti says, is to make major political agreements for co-government.
Another option is for Vetevendosje to form a minority government, but according to Rashit this would have a very limited mandate.
Rashiti also mentions a technical government as an option.
“Technical government - If LVV, PDK and LDK believe that their blocs cannot form a government, they should agree on a technical government (including program and priorities) with a mandate until February 2026.”
And if none of these options work, Rashiti says that as a last resort, elections will have to be called.
