The Assembly began reviewing the draft budget for 2026, while the leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku, opposed its content and the economic direction of the Government that is expected to be formed again by Vetëvendosje.
In his speech, Abdixhiku emphasized the level of poverty and the lack of development objectives in the financial document.
He stated that "Kosovo is the poorest country in Europe and this budget has no ambition, and as such will keep Kosovo as the poorest country in Europe. Talking about euros, about money, without mentioning inflation, is as much a political mistake as it is a propaganda goal."
"From the first day of the VV Government until today, inflation in Kosovo is a full 30%, the highest increase. Money five years ago was 30% more valuable. Your policies are eroding Kosovo's productive base."
According to him, the increase in prices over recent years has directly affected purchasing power and reduced the real value of citizens' incomes.
The review of the draft budget for 2026 will continue with further discussions in future sessions.
