
With 131 votes in favor, 29 against and 11 abstentions, the Parliamentary Assembly supported Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe during a plenary session on Tuesday in Strasbourg.
Of the 29 deputies who voted against Kosovo's membership, seven were from Serbia, seven from Spain, three from Hungary, two from France, two from Bosnia and Herzegovina, one from Montenegro, one from France, three from Cyprus, one from Italy, one from germany...
Serbia had proposed some changes in the text for the recommendation that Kosovo be admitted to this organization, but that was rejected by the Committee for Political Affairs and Democracy in the Council of Europe.
Against this, none of the amendments proposed by Serbia were approved.

After the vote of the Parliamentary Assembly, the matter passes into the hands of the Foreign Ministers of the Council of Europe, who must finally decide whether Kosovo will become the newest member of the organization.

The European Court of Human Rights – based in Strasbourg, France – monitors the implementation of the European Convention on Human Rights.
