"Kosovo's membership is conditional upon the establishment of the Association"/ KiE rejects Serbia's proposals

The Committee for Political Affairs and Democracy in the Council of Europe rejected all the amendments that were proposed by the Serbian delegation and some Italian and Hungarian MPs that the establishment of the Association of Serb-majority municipalities becomes a condition for Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe.

Kosovar media writes that these proposals were defeated by a majority of votes.

The discussion on Kosovo's request to be admitted to the Council of Europe will start around 16:30 in the Parliamentary Assembly.

Yesterday, the Committee for Legal Affairs and Human Rights in the Council of Europe unanimously voted in favor of Kosovo's application for membership, before the Parliamentary Assembly examines today the report recommending Kosovo's membership.
