Amid the tensions between the two countries, the EU once again calls on the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, and the President of Serbia, Aleksandër Vucic, to accept the invitation to participate in the meeting in Brussels, without imposing any conditions.
Also, the European Union has warned that ignoring this invitation may have consequences for the parties.
Vucic has refused to meet with Kurti, while Kurti has expressed that he will decide after the visit of the head of the liaison office in Belgrade, Jetish Jashari, to the three kidnapped policemen who are being held in custody in Kralevë.
The EU spokesman, Peter Stano, said that Borrell has invited the two leaders to meet in Brussels to find a way out of the crisis we are seeing and to return to the path of dialogue.
"The date has not been set yet because the parties have not confirmed their participation. Borrell expects more responsible behavior from the two leaders. The EU expects them to come unconditionally. The European bloc is monitoring the situation to see if the parties are ready to find a solution. Borrell's invitation is an offer and opportunity for them to prove that after all they can be constructive. It is not an invitation to please Brussels, but it is for the need to reduce tensions and for the European future of the citizens of Kosovo and Serbia. And for this, no one other than Vucic and Kurti is responsible", said Stano during a press conference.
