Blocking of the border points with Kosovo by the Serbs, the EU reacts: Belgrade

Masked people in Serbia set up barricades at the border crossings with Kosovo, selectively preventing the freedom of movement of only citizens of Albanian ethnicity.

In Kosovo, there were complaints about the non-reaction of the European Union, however, the Union reacted today in a response to the Express newspaper.

The spokesperson of the EU, Peter Stano, has said that it is neither a peaceful assembly nor a democratic right for masked persons to frighten travelers, while he reminded Serbia of the responsibility of the dialogue agreements for freedom of movement.

" Freedom of peaceful assembly, respecting the law, is absolutely essential in any democracy. However, the masked persons in Serbia, near the common crossing points, blocking the traffic coming from Kosovo and intimidating the travelers, do not belong to this category. The 2011 dialogue agreement on freedom of movement clearly defines the principle of free travel within or through the territory of the other party. It is the responsibility of each party to implement those provisions in its territory, in this case Serbia ", said Stano.

The border crossing points between Kosovo and Serbia returned to normal after the masked people in Serbia removed the barricades. Even Kosovo released the points it closed in response to the racist selection by the protesting Serbs.
