INTERPOL has issued international arrest warrants for all Serbian terrorists who participated in the terrorist attack in Banjska

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Xelal Sveçla, has announced that the headquarters of INTERPOL has announced that all the suspected persons who carried out the terrorist attack of September 24 in Banjska of Zveçan have been entered into the international arrest warrant system.

The minister said that this is an important step and as such it has its full effect when Serbia, which according to him is harboring and accommodating terrorists, hands them over to the Kosovo authorities to answer before justice.

" Accountability for the organization and realization of the terrorist attack of September 24, where Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku was killed, is essential. Punishment for the order givers, organizers and executors of this attack should happen as soon as possible, as a guarantee of non-repetition of similar terrorist acts" , Sveçla wrote.

On December 6 of last year, INTERPOL issued an international arrest warrant for the terrorist Milan Radoicic, who declared that he had led the September 24 terrorist attack.

How did the attack in Banjska happen?

The attack against Kosovo's special units that took place in the village of Banjské in the north of Kosovo on September 24, 2023. In this attack, the sergeant of the Kosovo police Afrim Bunjaku was killed, and therefore also some Serbian terrorists.

The attack on the Kosovo Police was described as a terrorist attack by Kosovo, Albania and the European Union and was condemned by the United States of America.

The incident occurred during a period of heightened tensions following the forced installation of four mayors in Serb-majority municipalities in May 2023 following a boycott of elections by Kosovo Serbs and the failure of talks on a European Union-sponsored agreement between Kosovo and Serbia. .

The affected area near Mitrovica is a major center for Kosovo's ethnic Serb minority, residing mainly in four municipalities.

In the period 23-24 September 2023, two trucks without license plates were placed on a bridge at the entrance to the village of Banjské, blocking the road. According to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, the group that set up the blockade was made up of Kosovo Serbs who "didn't want to endure the terror of (Kosovo Prime Minister) Kurti anymore".

The blockade was reported to the police in the early hours of September 24. Around 02:30, 3 police units arrived at the scene, whereupon they were attacked from different directions by an armed group of about 30 people, with various weapons, including grenades. In the initial shooting, the Kosovar police forces managed to repulse the initial attack. Three Kosovar policemen were injured and transported to the regional hospital in South Mitrovica, one of them died on arrival.

After the ambush, the group of armed terrorists entered the Banjska Monastery and barricaded themselves inside before being surrounded by special police units. A group of pilgrims from Novi Sad were in the monastery at the time of the attack. The monastery is part of the eparchy of the Serbian Orthodox Church of Rashka-Prizren.

At 17:27, Kosovo's special units entered and occupied the monastery, ending the siege. Xhelal Sveçla, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Kosovo, stated that the village was brought under control after "several consecutive battles" during the day.

Kosovar authorities arrested two armed men and four other Serbs, who were found with communication devices near the scene and investigated for terrorism. They also confiscated vehicles used by the attackers that contained an arsenal of weapons, explosives, ammunition and other logistical means to support hundreds of people.
