The patience of the international community with the ultimately unresolved situation in the north of Kosovo is wearing thin, as clearly evidenced by the letter that American Congresswoman Claudia Tenney recently sent to the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti.
"I am very worried about the escalating tensions in the North of Kosovo. Today I sent a letter to Prime Minister Kurti, to ask him to implement the Brussels agreement signed in 2013 to ensure rights and security for Kosovo Serbs", she wrote on Twitter, where she also posted the full letter.
In addition to the community of municipalities with a Serbian majority, considered key to convince the Serbs to implement the Ohrid Agreement and its Annex, the legislator also insists on holding new elections.
"I strongly encourage you and your administration to hold new elections for mayors of Serb-majority municipalities, completely withdraw special forces from Serb-majority municipalities and establish their association as dictated by the 2013 Brussels Agreement," it said. on paper.
"As you know, Kosovo Serbs boycotted the April 23 elections for mayors in the north of Kosovo, as a result of discriminatory anti-Serb policies and the lack of progress in implementing the Brussels agreement," she continues.
Further, as he mentions the entry of new mayors of northern municipalities into municipal buildings, Tenney adds in harsh tones that "the influx of special police only serves to inflame tensions and conflict rather than provide a long-term political solution for these communities ".
