Kosovo passed the first step towards membership in the Council of Europe, Kurti:

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, reacted after Kosovo passed the first step towards membership in the Council of Europe, calling it a great achievement for the people and the state.

In a reaction on social networks, the head of the government of Kosovo expressed his gratitude to those who engaged and contributed to this achievement.

Kurti says that the first step of public success was the meeting of ambassadors in the Council of Europe on April 24, 2023, the second step was the meeting of the Committee for Political Affairs, the third step will be the Parliamentary Assembly on April 18, 2024 and the last one of membership a month later, in May, at the meeting of the Council of Ministers of the member countries.

"The fundamental values ​​of the Council of Europe, i.e. democracy, the rule of law and human rights, come naturally to our good and progressive governance", he writes further.

The first step of public success was the meeting of ambassadors in the Council of Europe on April 24, 2023, the second step was yesterday at the meeting of the Committee on Political Affairs, the third step will be the Parliamentary Assembly on April 18, 2024 and the last step is the membership a month later, in May, at the meeting of the Council of Ministers of the member countries.

I thank all those who committed themselves and contributed to us becoming a member of the Council of Europe this spring, and in particular I thank the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Donika Gërvalla-Schëarz, the Deputy Minister, Kreshnik Ahmeti, the group of deputies of chaired by the deputy speaker of the Assembly, Saranda Bogujevci, and our ambassador in Strasbourg, Lulzim Hiseni.

A great achievement for the people and our country, a new opportunity for the citizens of Kosovo without distinction. The fundamental values ​​of the Council of Europe, i.e. democracy, the rule of law and human rights, come naturally to our good and progressive governance.
