Brother-in-law killed his sister, her brother confesses: Naimi killed Liridona
Liridona Ademaj, Naim Murseli

Family members of Liridona Ademaj never suspected that their son-in-law could be connected to the murder of the 30-year-old.

In a statement to Koha.net, her brother, Leonardi, told about the suspicions related to the murder.

He said that it may have become the cause of benefiting from the life insurance that Liridona has in Sweden, whose beneficiary after her death would be her husband.

Family members of Liridona Ademaj, the 30-year-old murdered four days ago, were never aware that she and her husband, Naim Murseli, had any problems between them.

Liridona had 13 years of marriage with Murseli, suspected of paying for his wife's murder and then staging it as a robbery.

Even Leonardi, Liridona's brother, said that the family members have not heard of any problems.

"Oh no, no way. For 13 years, there has not been a single word or conflict between them", he told KOĖHA.

According to him, since the family members heard about her murder, they have not even suspected that the son-in-law might be involved in some way.

"Not that we didn't suspect, but we didn't even want to suspect, because we didn't think that a man could kill his wife with such cold blood after 13 years of marriage", said the brother of the deceased Liridona.

Liridona's family members spoke to him for the last time, the day he was killed.

"There was no concern. She was with us and after she left, we called her because it is quite far from Gjakova to Pristina, 1 hour or so. We called him, I asked him since you passed on the way, did you go well? He said: I'm going to bring dinner", said Leonardi.

The two sons of Liridona are staying with the family of Naim Murseli, and the family members of the deceased have no longer had contact with them. Both have only Swedish citizenship.

The brother of the deceased Liridona confirmed that her sister had life insurance in Sweden, and that in the event of her death, the money would go to the family, namely her husband. Benefiting from the life insurance amount, according to him, could be the motive for the murder.

"The motive can only be money or something like that," said Leonard. "The reason may be this monetary value that he possesses with health insurance. We have a reason for this once, but for more the Police have this job and they know it".

The thirty-year-old was killed four days ago. The police, in coordination with the Basic Prosecutor's Office of Pristina, arrested her husband, as the person who ordered and paid for her murder and then staged the case as a robbery. Murseli, according to the Prosecution, paid the suspect Granit Plava, who executed the victim. Kushtrim Kokalla, a member of Mursel's family, was also arrested for participating in the murder.

KOHA has contacted the lawyers of the three arrested.

Naim Murseli's lawyer, Ahmet Ahmeti, did not want to comment on this matter.

"I am a lawyer, I do not give information. I represent Naim. I don't want to declare. Come on, bye", was Ahmet's short answer.

And, the lawyer Skënder Gojani, who represents the suspect Granit Plava, said that he will speak on Sunday after the hearing is held to schedule the detention of the suspects.

"The case is very sensitive. I reserved the right because tomorrow is the first session of the process, so for everything we have, we will hear from you tomorrow for further information", said Gojani.

Meanwhile, the lawyer Ahmet Gjinovci, who represents the suspect Kushtrim Kokalla, said that his client is not involved in this case.

"No, no, it has nothing to do with anything. It turned out that there is nothing. As suspicious, but they stopped him for sure. Let's see tomorrow what they are saying and what they are writing in the request for the measure of detention. At the moment, he is suspected of murder, but we will see tomorrow what assessment the prosecutor gives on the evidence", said Gjinovci.

The case was initially reported by the Police as "robbery with consequences of murder". Two days later, on December 1, the Police announced the arrest of two people.

A hearing for Naim Murseli and the other two suspects has been scheduled for Sunday at 09:30 at the Basic Court in Pristina.

The case has provoked many reactions.

A protest in defense of women has been announced for Tuesday, starting at 18:00 in "Zahir Pajaziti" square in Pristina. The Collective for Feminist Thought and Action is the organizer of the protest. This organization has announced that it will organize a symbolic action on Sunday near the Palace of Justice, where court hearings for the murder of Liridona Murseli are expected to be held.

President Vjosa Osmani emphasized on Saturday that the killers of Liridona Ademaj should be punished, while she called the murder a monstrous crime.

"Femicide is chilling evidence that exposes the deep-rooted inequality and violence that women face. It is a tragic account of lives brutally cut short simply because of gender. The loss of women's lives at the hands of men is a stain on our collective conscience," President Osmani said.

She has stated that swift and decisive action is needed to ensure that justice prevails and that the perpetrators are punished.

"In these difficult moments for our entire country, we share the pain with Liridona's family, and in particular with her children who lost their dear mother in the most monstrous possible circumstances", the president emphasized.
