"When the army returns to Kosovo, the Brigade will live", the Serbs

In the four northern municipalities of Kosovo, with a majority of Serbs, several new graffiti were seen on Sunday with the message "When the army returns to Kosovo, the Northern Brigade will live".

The deputy director of the Kosovo Police for the northern region, Veton Elshani, told Radio Evropa e Lire that the prosecutor's office said that these graffiti were done because of the "spread of hatred".

According to him, it is not yet known who made these graffiti.

The Government of Kosovo has declared the Northern Brigade and the Civil Defense as a terrorist organization at the end of June 2023.

It is believed that these two organizations operate in the north of Kosovo and count hundreds of members from the ranks of the Serbian community.

This is not the first time that the Northern Brigade has done such graffiti in the north of Kosovo.

Some of them said, "Don't worry, we're here, we're waiting."

Also, ten days before the attack on the Kosovo Police by an armed Serbian group in Banjska of Zveçan, last year, the graffiti "When the army returns to Kosovo" was seen in North Mitrovica.

In the new graffiti in North Mitrovica, Zveçan, Leposavič and Zubin Potok, it is mentioned that the author is the North Brigade.

Graffiti with identical inscriptions have appeared in Serbian cities since the middle of last year, and they were made by fans of the Crvena zvezda football club.

New graffiti has been seen in northern Kosovo, at a time when Serbs are showing dissatisfaction with the decision of the Central Bank of Kosovo (CBK) to make the euro the only currency for making payments, thus making it impossible to use the dinar. Serbian for transactions.

Serbia allocates funds to Serbs in Kosovo and pays their salaries, pensions, and social benefits in Serbian dinars.

In recent days, the Kosovo authorities have also closed seven parallel Serbian institutions, which Kosovo considers illegal according to the Constitution.

The international community has called on Kosovo not to take decisions that negatively affect the Serbian community in Kosovo, and to avoid tensions.

The West has demanded that Kosovo and Serbia resolve all open issues, within the dialogue mediated by the European Union, since 2011./REL
