Plenary session on tensions in the north, Kurti: We will not back down, Serbia
Albin Kurti in the Assembly

The Assembly of Kosovo held today a plenary session on the tensions in the north of Kosovo. During his speech in the Parliament, Prime Minister Albin Kurti did not retract his word that the elections in the north were legitimate.

He listed by day all the events of the situation in the north, where he said that the Serbs interfered only when the elected presidents wanted to come to office. Kurti said that the Serbian List was not only not present in the buildings, but their only goal is for Kosovo to abandon them as well.

Furthermore, the head of the government of Kosovo said that the intervention of the police was necessary as long as the attack was pre-prepared and that they were looking for a pretext.

" The elections had to be held. Once postponed, they could not be closed again. I have called on the Serbs to participate in the elections. Escobar declared that the US will recognize the results despite the Serb boycott. Elections are held on April 23, no incidents, excellent organization. The oaths of the presidents were also passed without incident. While on their first day of work they faced incidents, attacked KFOR and Kosovo policemen.

If we had not acted correctly, we would have had mayors who would have been attacked. Because that attack was pre-prepared and they were looking for a pretext. It was not a forced entry into the building, the police do not forcefully enter his building. Even the mayor does not force his way in, because it is his office.

Allow me to inform you, Lista Serbe has abandoned the institutions in the north and the parliament, except when I get my salary. They have abandoned the buildings because they know they are not theirs, they belong to the republic. They don't want them, they just want us not to want them either, they only intervene when the leaders want to enter." - said Kurti.

Kurti stated that the protests are not the will of the Serbian people, but threats and continued pressure from Belgrade. He said that although Belgrade sells itself as if it is protecting the Serbian minority, in fact they only control it and use it.

"It is not their will. They do not protest as a movement from the bottom up, it is clearly a movement from above. I cannot close my eyes when the fascists violate our constitution. We must help the Serbs," Kurti said .
