Members of Parliament will gather today, at 10:00, to continue with the constitutive session after more than a month of pause due to the Constitutional Court's decision.
The only item on the agenda is the election of the Serbian vice president, a point for which the Constitutional Court blocked the work of the Assembly and the formation of the new government emerging from the February elections on September 5th.
The next attempt to constitute the Assembly comes after the publication of the full judgment of the Constitutional Court, in the request of the Serbian List that contested the constitution without the election of the deputy speaker proposed by this party. The court assessed that the election of the deputy speaker from among the Serb community is necessary for the completion of the constitution of the Kosovo Assembly.
The court declared on September 30 that MPs have 12 days to elect a Serb deputy speaker. The assembly has elected speaker Dimal Basha, three Albanian deputy speakers, and a deputy speaker from the non-Serb minority.
Thursday marked eight months since the general elections. The election of the Serbian deputy president concludes the constitutive session that began on April 15, paving the way for the process of forming a new government.
