The US State Department has increased the pressure on Serbia for the release of 3 Kosovar policemen kidnapped by force in the north.
Through a statement, DASH called on President Aleksandar Vucic and his government to release the 3 operatives from the cell. According to the Americans, they are being held in cells on false charges.
" We call on President Vučić and the government of Serbia to immediately and unconditionally release the three Kosovo policemen arrested on June 14. Their continued arrest and detention on false charges has worsened an already tense situation.
We also continue to call on Serbia and Kosovo to follow the three-point plan outlined by the EU and return without delay to the EU-facilitated dialogue ," DASH said in a statement.
On Friday, a court in Serbia ordered the detention and investigation of three Kosovo police officers, under charges of "unauthorized production, possession, possession and trafficking of weapons and explosives".
The authorities in Pristina said that the policemen were kidnapped inside the territory of Kosovo, accusing Serbia of "violating the sovereignty and territorial integrity" of Kosovo. Belgrade meanwhile says that the policemen were caught inside the territory of Serbia.
"In both cases, it is very clear that these policemen had no intention of entering Serbia and they must be released," said Friday the US envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar.
