During the trial against Thaçi and others, the court heard the testimonies and contradictory statements of the prosecution witnesses. Lawyers accredited by the Special Court show how this will affect the process, as the KLA veterans' organization continues to have no faith in this court. Few are those who appeared in the Hague Court with voice and image, but those who spoke openly were fought quite fiercely legally by the defense of the former leaders of the KLA.
Even some were badly denied, admitted the mistakes, until the session inserts were considered a victory for the accused in The Hague.
It is about the Human Rights Watch official, Kaçanik's witness Agim Idrizi, as well as some Serbs pretending to be journalists who turned out to have been part of the Serbian secret services, whose statements were all quite contradictory. The attorney accredited by the Special, Fehmije Gashi, sees their role in this trial as problematic, saying that an indictment has been filed based on their statements. But, according to her, in order to know whether their testimonies have a positive effect on the process, the epilogue must be awaited.
"The prosecutor's office has carried out the investigations without giving the opportunity to the defendants' defenders to contradict the statements during the investigation procedure. At this stage of the procedure, this is a victory for the defense, but only after the decision on acquittal or punishment is made, we will understand on which side is the victory", Gashi declared for RTV Dukagjinin.
On the other hand, Faton Klinaku from the KLA Veterans Organization says that the failure of witnesses and special evidence has led to a new wave of raids and investigations in Kosovo. So far, thirty-two witnesses have testified in the case against Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selim, while there are hundreds more invited by the Prosecutor's Office.
