Artificial intelligence is here to threaten some jobs that are in danger of disappearing, but there are some professions that will thrive for decades.

Despite advances in AI and technology in general, many people are nervous about where it might take us in the next decade, reports the Telegraph.

Bright minds like Stephen Hawking and Bill Gates have warned us about this, while the richest person in the world, Elon Musk, is known for using it in his businesses, especially X.

But which jobs are safe from AI, which will undoubtedly remain for many years to come?

James Reed, CEO of Reed, revealed which jobs are protected by AI, in an article for This Is Money, reports the Telegraph.

According to Reed, AI could see healthcare “transformed” around the world. However, it is critically important that a “human touch” remains a part of any form of care.

He explains that “care assistants work with elderly, disabled or vulnerable individuals, providing empathy, comfort and personalized support that no algorithm will ever be able to replicate.”

Reed notes that AI will not be able to understand students who may be struggling with their studies, so the popular profession of a teacher cannot be replaced so easily by robot teachers.

"Students need encouragement, social engagement, and modeling in ways that no AI can provide," he added.

Arranging interviews, screening CVs and selecting a suitable candidate is certainly a role that AI can take on, but Reed thinks a human touch is still necessary.

“Machines can simplify tasks, but they cannot replicate the human intuition and empathy needed to make the right match and guide careers,” he says.

Cybersecurity

Reed thinks there is a future where cybersecurity experts can work alongside this impressive piece of technology.

So roles in technology, even though they are often the jobs discussed as most threatened by the rise of AI, need people to stay because of hackers.

"Hackers don't operate in a predictable pattern: they innovate, exploit human behavior, and adapt in real time. The best cybersecurity specialists think like investigators and strategists, deciphering complex threats in environments that change every day," Reed added.

“AI may end up helping with diagnostics or emergency response plans, but it will never be able to physically respond to emergencies or exercise the judgment and compassion needed during crises,” Reed stressed.

So, in short, artificial intelligence cannot be trusted to save people's lives.

PROFESSIONAL

According to Reed, people in professions like electricians, plumbers and carpenters can rest easy knowing that their jobs are not at risk.

AI wouldn't work as well in this sector, he says, because of the "real-world problem-solving" that's required for these types of professions.

Reed explains that “a surveyor’s report can influence negotiations over a property sale, mortgage approval or compliance with building standards.”

In other words, being a residential surveyor requires “deep professional judgment,” which means that AI simply cannot perform this role alone.

Real estate agent

Although automated property valuations are not that uncommon these days, Reed thinks that AI will not take over those who are real estate agents, but rather will help them in their work.

"People will remain central to the real estate agency process," says Reed, as buying a home is one of the biggest decisions you can make in your life.

Hotel employees

Reed says the public still loves a personal touch, although it's not exactly uncommon for hotels to have a check-in system where you don't speak to any staff members, or you may have seen a robot deliver your food at a restaurant before.

entrepreneur

While AI can help entrepreneurs with their ideas, there is no chance of humans being replaced by technology, Reed argues.

"The best entrepreneurs learn from failure and can take an idea that looks bad on paper and find a way to make it work," he explained.

"AI can become a powerful tool in their toolkit, but it will not replace the human spark that can create entirely new industries," he added.

Childminders and nursery workers

Similar to the profession of a teacher, babies need to receive human interaction for their development, instead of interaction from robots.

"Parents and practitioners agree that, while machines can help with some simple tasks, they cannot replace the spontaneity of play or the warmth of human interaction that defines quality childcare," Reed concluded.
