On the eve of the 50th anniversary of the famous Armani brand, founder Giorgio Armani has spoken again about the succession plan and the preservation of his empire. The famous Italian designer has shown that he has faith in his family and the close circle that has accompanied him throughout his career, including his partner, Leo Dell'Orco, head of men's fashion design.
"My plans for the future are a gradual transition of responsibilities to the people closest to me, like Leo, my family and my work team. I want my legacy to be organic and not a moment of separation," Armani told the Financial Times.
The 91-year-old stylist continues to be not only creative director, but also CEO and sole shareholder of his group, which today includes not only fashion, but also investments in hospitality, restoration, real estate and entertainment.
The designer himself took care to leave nothing to chance: Detailed documents at the notary's office regulate the division of shares and the governance of the group, reducing the possibility of disputes between heirs and ensuring the distribution of 50% of the net profits.
The foundation's statute also provides for rules for the acquisition and merger of other companies only to develop competencies that are missing within the group, while preserving values and jobs. On the other hand, the commitment to style is clear: An essential, modern, elegant and without excessive showiness approach, preserving the aesthetic values that have made the Armani brand famous.
Armani emphasizes that style and quality remain above fast fashion trends.
"If what I created 50 years ago continues to be enjoyed by an audience that hasn't been born yet, then that's the greatest reward," he adds.
With this clear and detailed plan, Armani ensures that his empire remains in safe hands and his vision of beauty lives on even after his departure.
