Tapes of Princess Diana from the 1990s during her conversations with her biographer Andrew Morton are coming to light. According to what can be heard in them, King Charles even stated that he was "disappointed" when Prince Harry was born, because he "wanted a girl".
These tapes were recorded by Diana in the 1990s, during her conversations with her biographer Andrew Morton, who published the bestselling book Diana: Her True Story.
Excerpts from the audio, which will appear in an upcoming documentary, have been released in the US.
Diana claims that Charles told her stepmother Raine Spencer at Prince Harry's christening in 1984: "We are very disappointed, we wanted a girl."
In response, Countess Spencer told him: "You must realize that you are lucky to have a child," Diana added.
The princess made seven hours of recordings while still married to King Charles, who was then the Prince of Wales.
However, not all of the recordings were heard in the 2017 documentary. The new production is expected to air in early 2024.
