A tragic incident occurred in Romania, in the Caransebe area. It involved a minibus carrying several fans of the Greek team PAOK.
The vehicle in question had departed from Greece and was headed to France, specifically for the Olympique Lyon-PAOK Europa League match, scheduled to be played on Thursday at 9:00 PM.
But what happened? According to reports from the Romanian police, the cause of the accident is related to a wrong overtaking by the driver of the minibus, in which the Greek fans were traveling. It is further stated that the collision was so strong that it caused the instant death of at least seven fans, including the driver.
The other injured passengers were taken to nearby hospitals, while there is no exact number of people who were in the minibus. An eyewitness, who avoided the collision at the last moment, described the dramatic moment, blaming the minibus driver for the dangerous maneuver:
“ It was clear that he had no hope. It was extremely dangerous. He swerved to pass, saw the truck coming and tried to turn back into his lane, but ended up crashing head-on. I only saw one person get out of the vehicle alive. The rest were lying on the road and in the field, in a very bad condition .”
