After nearly nine years, Besnik Hasi has returned as coach of Anderlecht in Belgium. The former national team defender joins a new team just 17 days after leaving Mechelen.
The departure from Mechelen has not been so bitter, as Has has returned to the club where he made his name and will lead the team until the end of the season, with the right to renew.
After a successful playing career at the club, he served as assistant coach for 4 seasons, then as head coach for 3 seasons. During that time, the Albanian won the league title in 2014 and lifted the Belgian Super Cup.
For Hasi, this is a return to Anderlecht, after leading this team for two years from 2014 to 2016 in 119 matches. Hasi won the title in 2014 and lifted the Super Cup as Anderlecht coach.
" I know this club and the expectations that come with it. It's a pleasure to once again manage the Anderlecht first team ," said Gjakova.
As a coach, Besnik Hasi has also managed Legia Warsaw, Olympiacos, Al Raed, Al Ahli and Mechelen.
Anderlecht decided to part ways with coach David Hubert before trusting Hasi. Anderlecht hold fourth place in the standings for the championship title, eight points behind leaders Genk.
