Ervin Skela continues to be an important name in the development of young talents in German football. For five years, the 49-year-old has been part of the Eintracht Frankfurt academy, where he exercises the role of coach of the U19 team. Under his leadership, the team has achieved good results, reaching the 1/8 stage of the UEFA Youth League.
In an interview for "FSHF TV", as part of the series "Albanians in Europe", Skela also shared one of his greatest professional ambitions: leading the Albanian National Team in the future.
" The dream of every former national team player who aims to become a coach is to one day lead the national team. For me, it would be a dream. If one day the Albanian National Team asked me, even though I think it's still early, I would accept without hesitation ," said Skela, also using a symbolic expression for his readiness.
After ending his career as a footballer, the former midfielder of the Albanian National Team continued his training path, qualifying with the Albanian Football Federation. However, his professional activity has mainly focused on Germany.
Skela does not rule out the possibility of a future involvement in Albanian football, although he emphasizes that so far he has not had any concrete offers as a coach. He recalls that in recent years as a player he had an offer from Skënderbeu.
" At the end of my career as a footballer, the then president of Skënderbeg, Agim Zeqo, proposed that I join the team. It was an ambitious project. As a coach, I had no offers, perhaps because it was thought that I would not return to Albania, since I live and work in Germany ," he stated.
Currently, Skela remains engaged in the development of young footballers in Germany, while his future in Albanian football remains an open possibility.
