Lionel Messi continues to lead the World Cup's top scorers after matches played on Wednesday and early Thursday. The Argentina captain leads with five goals scored.
He is followed by Brazil forward Vinicius Junior, who scored twice in the win over Scotland to take his tally to four. Norway's Erling Haaland and France's Kylian Mbappe are also on the same scoreline. Unlike his two rivals, Vinicius is the only one to have completed all three group stage matches.
Among the players who have stood out so far is Switzerland's young midfielder Johan Manzambi. The Freiburg player scored the decisive goal in the victory over Canada, a success that secured Switzerland first place in Group B.
In his first match as a starter, Manzambi also contributed with an assist for Ruben Vargas's first goal of the match. Morocco midfielder Ismael Saibari also joined the three-goal tally after scoring in the match against Haiti.
