Ivan Balliu doesn't seem to be having a happy moment in European competitions this season. A few weeks ago, footage of him publicly clashing with the Rayo Vallecano coach on the bench made the rounds on the internet.
Today, the Albanian national team defender suffered an injury that shocked his teammates when they saw him fall to the ground.
In the first half of the Conference League match against Slovan Bratislava, Balliu was trying to catch a ball in the air in front of the bench. But the opponent's interference caused him to spin and fall in a frightening way, headfirst to the ground, remaining motionless on the sidelines.
The team's medical staff immediately intervened, as Balliu then began to move in pain, while his teammates were alarmed for a few moments. He was immediately replaced by the coach, and was sent to the locker room.
