Surprising news has come from Germany, where Borussia Dortmund and German national team defender Niklas Schyle has decided to end his career at the end of this season, even though he is only 30 years old.

The German footballer explained that ongoing physical problems and numerous injuries directly influenced this decision. During his career, Schyle has faced a series of serious injuries, including two ruptured cruciate ligaments, missing over 130 matches for club and country.

The center-back also revealed the moment that, according to him, finally convinced him to leave football. He referred to the recent knee injury suffered in the match against Hoffenheim.

" What I felt when the team doctor did the test in the locker room, looked at the physio and shook his head... I went into the shower and cried for ten minutes. At that moment I really thought: 'It's torn again, '" Shyle said.

The defender added that the fear of facing a serious injury again was decisive in his choice.

" When I had an MRI the next day and got the good news that it wasn't a ligament, it became 100% clear to me that everything was over. I couldn't imagine anything worse than having to start all over again with another cruciate ligament injury. I couldn't bear to go through the same process a third time, between rehabilitation and months away from the field, while life goes on without you ," he said.

Niklas Schyle has had a distinguished career in European football, playing at the highest levels with Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich. With the Bavarians, he also won the Champions League, while for years he was an important part of the German national team.
