More than two weeks after a horse-riding accident in which he suffered serious head injuries, PSG goalkeeper Sergio Rico remains in intensive care, according to a statement from Seville's Virgen del Rocío hospital, reported from "Le Parisien".
The hospital adds that, at the request of the family, regular updates on the 29-year-old's condition will no longer be made public, while statements are now limited to major developments. The shooter's condition is "stable", regardless of the severity of his injuries.
Rico suffered the accident during a pilgrimage to Andalusia, with PSG's side resting on Sunday after wrapping up their Ligue 1 title with a draw against Strasbourg. He was fully weaned off sedation last week, only to be placed back into a coma hours later.
PSG's match against Clermont ten days ago featured a series of messages of support both from the stands and on the pitch, with cheers and cheers from fans as players wore Rico's name on the back of their shirts during the first half. Club captain Marquinhos lifted the League 1 trophy while wearing the Spaniard's shirt.
