A complete set of five official Manchester City medals, linked to the historic "Treblet" of the 2022-2023 season, will be auctioned on April 28, raising questions over the identity of the anonymous seller.
The auction is being run by Budds Auctions, which has estimated the set at between £50,000 and £80,000. The collection includes original medals from the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League, as well as those from the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup triumphs, successes that consolidated Pep Guardiola's team's international dominance.
While the English club has not made any official comments, sports experts have launched an investigation to discover the source of the collection. Suspicions centre on the possibility that the medals may belong to a former player or a member of the technical staff.
The auction house described the offering as a rare opportunity for collectors and investors, highlighting the historic significance of this season for the club. The set also includes the first European medal in Manchester City's history, complete with its original ribbon.
With a starting price of around £30,000, the auction is expected to attract great interest and potentially set new records in the sports memorabilia market.
