He could have worn the United jersey, how Luka Modric's story changed after the transfer to Real Madrid

Luka Modric started his bright career when he played for Tottenham from 2008 to 2012. Many big clubs wanted to bring him, but in the end Real Madrid managed to get the Croatian star. 

Modric's manager at Tottenham, Harry Redknap, revealed that Sir Alex Ferguson called him personally to try and bring the Croatian to Manchester United. 

“I remember Fergi calling me about Luka Modric and Paolo Di Canio (Redknap directed him to West Ham) but for some reason he couldn't close the transfers ", said Redknap in an interview for "The Sun". 

Recently, Rio Ferdinand, the legendary goalkeeper of Manchester United, has talked about how in 2012 he convinced Modric to sign for Manchester United. 

He emphasized that Modric wanted to move to the "Red Devils", but the clubs did not agree and then Real Madrid came and took the Croatian captain to Real Madrid for 35 million euros.
