Valdet Rama has undoubtedly been one of the most technical footballers Albania has had in recent years.
The former national team striker also played in the Albanian championship with Kukës, showing an extraordinary level. In an interview with "Panorama Sport", he reveals the reasons why he left Albania, while also talking about the national team.
15 matches with the National Team and 3 goals…
I have scored and I have said every time that it has been a great pleasure to play with the red and black team. Normally for every footballer it is a dream to play with the red and black colors.
How much has Albania changed, with the team when you were part of it?
It's a little hard to say the quality then compared to today. Back then we had very good players with high quality, but Albania is developing as a team and as a team. Good players have arrived and it's hard for me to make a comparison, so I wish them all the best.
In a few days, Serbia-Albania will be played. How do you predict it?
It's a difficult match, but we saw in the first match that we have the quality to win the match. I believe and hope that we will get a result in our favor in this match as well.
You were in Belgrade in October 2014. How do you remember that moment?
Yes, I was in Belgrade then, in a historic match, in a match that I will never forget. We were playing well to be honest, but of course we defended the red and black colors.
Do you think there will be riots again?
Even then, we went to play football but what happened happened. I hope that the same things don't happen again and that matches can be played without problems. I hope there will be calm on both sides.
Do you think Albania has a chance to go to the World Cup?
These are crucial matches now to see if we go or not. England has a top team and will go straight through normally. I hope these matches are successful for us and we manage to qualify for the World Cup, and I also hope and wish the same for Kosovo.
In the 2018-2019 season, he played in the Superiore for the first time….
In January I came to Kukësi and played for 7 months. I was without a team and I needed time to recover and I wanted to go somewhere where I could get back in shape. Kukësi was in the Superiore at the time. I won the Cup and we played for the Europa League qualifiers.
After leaving Kukes, you had numerous offers but never returned. Was Superior disappointing or what happened?
I had offers in Albania and also outside Albania, but to tell the truth I had planned to stay in Albania for a short time. I returned to Germany because of my family even though I had offers abroad. At that time my father was also sick so it was a decision to play in Germany near my family.
