Albania will play one of the most important matches on October 11, against Serbia in Leskovac, which could determine our path to the World Cup qualifiers.
This match takes on a special significance due to the political problems between the two countries, but also due to the situation created 11 years ago, when Albania won the table against Serbia, due to the riots that the local tifosi caused after the drone with Ethnic Albania in the stadium.
Meanwhile, the Albanian Football Association (AFHA) seems to have taken measures much earlier for this challenge and has taken great care that the players do not have any comments about the match. "Panorama Sport" has learned that the national team players have been told to avoid interviews and if they do give interviews, they are categorically forbidden to talk about the national team and the match with Serbia. Such a decision seems to have been taken by the AFHA to avoid further heating up the situation, since often, the emotions of the moment cause the players to make statements with patriotic notes, which can be taken as a provocation by the Serbian side. But, at the same time, the AFHA is the one that often promotes that football should not be confused with political problems, especially since Albania, together with Serbia, will organize the U-21 European Championship in 2027, which goes against the recent decision to censor the players from the right to express themselves.
The past with the fans - In fact, this is not the first time that the Albanian Football Association is afraid of the match with Serbia, as just a few months ago when the match was played in Tirana, a new way was "invented" for how tickets would be sold, by creating a link where the application would first be made and then the people who have obtained the right to buy a ticket would be selected. Something like this brought a lot of dissatisfaction and against Serbia, the "Red and Black Fans" were absent from the stadium as well as other fan groups that had followed Albania wherever it played, while against Latvia the stands behind the goal were closed, precisely in the sectors where the "ultras" are placed.
The present with the media - After the match against Latvia, most of the questions to the players were related to the upcoming match against Serbia and many were those who declared that it would be just a football match, avoiding comments on the possibility of riots or even provocations. Given that these matches passed without statements and things seem to be going smoothly, the Albanian Football Association has taken measures to prevent the situation from worsening in the coming days, which in fact keeps the press away from the National Team players, at a time when interest in following Albania is falling significantly and this is seen in the way and amount of tickets are being sold.
