National team coach Silvinjo announced this morning the list of players called up for Albania's first two qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup, on March 21 against England and three days later, against Andorra.
From the list made public, the absence of Mirlind Daku stood out. Coach Silvinjo said at today's press conference that the red and black striker who plays in Russia for Rubin Kazan was not called up due to injury.
Silvinho's reaction apparently wasn't enough, and on social media there was a flood of comments and criticism towards the Brazilian coach for leaving Daku out, suspecting that he is truly injured.
In a brief statement to "GazetaBlic Sport" in Kosovo, Mirlind Daku confirmed that he was sidelined due to injury. " In consultation with the doctor and Silvinjo, we decided that I should rest and fully recover ," Daku said.
