Bujar Pllana is one of the new additions to coach Silvinjo's Albanian national team for the March matches, valid for the World Cup play-off phase. The 24-year-old center-back is in good form with Leçia Gdansk in Poland, and he crowned his call-up to the national team with a goal in the championship match against Pogon Szczecin.
In a statement to Polish media after this challenge, Pllana explained the reasons that led her to choose Albania, despite having previously been part of the Kosovo youth team.
" I haven't spoken to coach Silvinjo yet. I've only had contact with the Federation, which has followed me in recent matches. I followed my heart. It's been a dream since childhood, as I grew up watching the Albanian National Team. I'm very happy to now be part of it ," he declared.
The defender emphasized that it is more important for him to show his worth in training than to immediately activate in matches.
" The important thing is to be in camp and give my best. Then we'll see what happens ," said Pllana.
Speaking about the match against Poland, he said that results in football are always unpredictable.
" In football you can't be sure of anything. We're seeing it in the Polish championship, where any team can beat the other. There are no absolute favorites. We will do our best to achieve the objective ," he said.
According to Pllanë, both Albania and Poland have quality in their composition.
" Poland has a good team, but we also have players who are active in the strongest leagues. In Albania there is a lot of enthusiasm for this match and everyone is focused. We know its importance. Our national team has improved in recent years, as was seen in the European Championship, and continues to grow with each match ," he concluded.
